Battle of the Killdeer Mountains - General Alfred Sully's troops fought the Sioux here back in 1864, seeking revenge for the Minnesota Massacre of two years earlier. Directions are: take the first left off Highway 22, north of the Killdeer airport, and markers will guide you to the battlefield site.

Medicine Hole - Atop the Killdeer Mountain
The name for this cave comes from what was thought to be the healing power of a steady stream of air that blows from the hole. Another legend tells of a Medicine man ritual, taking possession from an ill Indian and placing it in the Medicine Hole to make him well. The site is about 1/2 mile up the mountain.

The lost Bridge A bridge that was built in the early 1930's, 22 miles north of Killdeer on Highway 22. A road to the bridge was finally built 20 years later - hence the name. It was dismantled in 1994. A plaque and a piece of the old bridge have been installed near the new bridge as a memorial.
