The mission of Dunn County Jobs Development Authority is to lead and promote economic growth in Dunn County by bridging people and opportunities.

Dunn County located in western North Dakota, was created January 1908 by Governor Burke. Early settlers were already in the area establishing homes and businesses as early as 1889. Lewis & Clark were on the Corp of Discovery when they stopped in what was to be Dunn County on April 1805 to make latitude and longitudinal readings according to their journals. The Native Americans called this area home as the Knife River and the Knife River Flint Quarries were used for centuries by their people. The Battle of the Killdeer Mountains was fought in July 1864 between the Sioux, including Sitting Bull, and General Sully and his 2200 soldiers. The arrival of the railroad in 1914 was the determining factor for success of our present communities. Dunn County has the Killdeer mountains, the Killdeer Mountain Battle Field, the Little Missouri Badlands, the Knife River Flint Quarries and Lake IIo National Refuge where history and scenery meet.
